Steeling money from account – Two thieves arrested

The Two Town Police arrested two thieves of a four-member gang, who committed thefts at Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) of many banks. They seized three mobile phones, 15 SIM cards, two ATM cards and other material from the accused.

Two other accused, Md. Basith and Dinesh, are absconding. Police are trying to find out whether any other persons are involved in the racket.

Disclosing this to the newsmen here on Friday, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) G. Pala Raju said the suspects M. Ramesh Gandhi, a degree student of West Godavari district, and Sk. Srinivasulu of Kadapa district were habituated to horse racing and cricket betting.

The modus operandi of the accused is to move around ATMs, collect details of ATM cards of different banks while the customers are drawing the amount. They later used to draw the amount by using apps of different banks and wallets and transfer the amount into Basith and Dinesh’s accounts. Later, they shared the booty.

Ramesh Gandhi was earlier arrested by the Tirupati police, and Srinivasulu was apprehended by Gannavaram (Krishna district) and Kadapa police on similar charges and were released from jail.
