Oscars 2020: Congress gives Best Action award to PM Modi, Best Negative Role to Amit Shah
While the world celebrated some historic wins today at the Oscars 2020 ceremony held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, Indian National Congress decided to have their own brand of political awards inspired by the Academy.
From awards like Best Actor in Comedic role to Best Actor in an Action role, the Congress party’s Twitter handle decided to give out some awards to their rival political leaders and the thread is going crazy viral online.
For the best actor in an Action role, congress party gave the award to PM Modi, while the nominees were Pragya Thakur and Yogi Adityanath. They wrote “It takes “56 inches” of “sweat and tears” to win this award. Here are the nominees & winner for best actor in an Action role.”
As for the best actor in a Negative role, for which the nominees were Amit Shah, Yogi Adityanath and Anurag Thakur, the award was given to the Minister of Home Affairs.
They posted the clip with the caption, “Gabbar Singh & Mogambo are menaces of the past, “New India” brings a new set of villains. Here are the nominees & winner for best actor in a Negative role.”
For the Best Actor in Comedic role, the party gave the award to BJP minister Manoj Tiwari. The other nominee in the category included Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal. They posted a video of Manoj Tiwari doing yoga asanas.
They posted the video saying, “When things get dark, when the times are tough, we can all do with a little comedy to cheer us up. Fortunately we have these timeless moments to get us through. Here are the nominations & winner for best actor in a Comedic role.”
There was also the award for best actor in a Dramatic role which went to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
After the videos were posted on Twitter, they immediately went viral. The thread managed to garner around 393 retweets and 1.2k likes.
