There were no preventive measures taken by the TD government to tackle the drought conditions in the state: Roja.

Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s Cabinet is filled with land encroachers, bank defaulters and those who indulge in violence against women — this was the allegation made by YSR Congress MLA Ms. R.K. Roja.

Speaking to scribes here in Visakhapatnam, Ms Roja alleged that in the name of land pooling, Mr Ganta Srinivasa Rao and municipal administration minister P. Narayana grabbed a huge chunk of land in the district.

“The TD leaders had tarnished the image of Vizag city and district by encouraging the drug culture and ganja cultivation. Minister Ayyanna Patrudu also has a role in the cultivation of ganja. The highest number of liquor shops in the state are in Vizag district. But unfortunately there is no action from the police. Why is the TD government silent over the land encroachments in the district even after BJP MLA P. Vishnu Kumar Raju raised the issue so many times in the past?” questioned Ms Roja.

Referring to Union minister Y. Sujana Chowdhary and Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Ms Roja commented ironically that defaulting on thousands of crores of rupees may be an eligibility condition for becoming a Cabinet minister in the TD regime. “The TD government is not bothered about the farmers. There were no preventive measures taken by the TD government to tackle the drought conditions in the state,” she said.

TD MLA refutes Roja’s allegations

The TD MLA from Payaka-raopeta V. Anitha, refuted the allegations made by Ms Roja. Speaking to scribes in Vizag on Sunday evening, Ms Anitha said Ms Roja has been trying to get political mileage by commenting on TD leaders, particularly Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.

“After cyclone Hudhud damaged Vizag city, Mr Naidu’s efforts made it attain a place on the global map. During the TD tenure, Vizag got international recognition due to its developmental activities. YSRC leaders are the kingpins of ganja smuggling and running belt shops in the district. If Ms Roja doesn’t stop criticising TD leaders, people will teach her a lesson,” Ms Anitha warned.
