Cricket selector to aid newborns with heart ailments
BCCI’s National Senior Selection Committee’s chairman M.S.K. Prasad has joined hands with the Andhra Hospitals, Vijayawada, and Healing Little Hearts, a team from the United Kingdom, in helping newborn babies with heart ailments.
“In the past three years, our team has performed 13 rare heart surgeries with 100% success rate. All these surgeries are done free of charge as parents of those babies cannot afford the cost involved in this intricate surgeries,” said Mr. Prasad.
“I feel fortunate to be a part of this programme. I am going to support this baby for her post-operative care. Doctors have performed the operation for 12 hours and the baby is perfectly all right now. I will look after her from now on,” a beaming Mr. Prasad added, posing beside the little one in the hospital bed.
The Healing Little Hearts is a global charitable organisation sending teams to different countries to perform heart surgeries for children. The team members are from the U.K. and other European countries and Australia.
Hospital in Amaravati
The Andhra Hospitals has been associated with the Healing Little Hearts for the past two years and had conducted 10 camps and 215 heart surgeries. “Now we are establishing a children’s heart institute with the help of the Healing Little Hearts team and the Andhra Pradesh government at Amavarati,” Mr. Prasad said.
