Mumbai: Indian badminton coach Pullela Gopichand believes that youngster Lakshya Sen, has a bright future ahead of him, and has the capability to be the face of the sport in the country, in times to come.
Gopichand has long been regarded as one of the best badminton coaches in the country, as top players like Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu, K Srikanth and many more have all trained under him.
The former All England Championship winner also runs his own badminton academy in Hyderabad.
Lakshya Sen shot into then news earlier this week, when he became the world number one in the BWF junior men’s singles rankings. Gopichand believes that the 15-year-old has the qualities to become one of the future stars for India.
“Lakshya reminds me a lot of the Danish players, apart from agility and swiftness, he can switch his game to a more power oriented role, where his smash can land winner after winner,” Gopichand was quoted as saying by Sportskeeda. “He definitely has a bright future ahead for India, a future top 10.”
The young shuttler has impressed experts from a very young age, with former All-England champion Prakash Padukone saying that Sen was better than him at the age of 10.
