Hyderabad: The police on Friday arrested a 28 year-old-man who had stolen 44 tola of gold and cash from his employer while wearing a burqa.

In order to hide his identity from CCTVs, Om Prakash wore a burqa and entered his employer’s house using a stolen key. However, the police still identified him from the CCTV footage due to a disability in his right leg.

Cops recovered 44 tola gold and Rs 18,000 in cash from him. Central Zone DCP V.B. Kamalasan Reddy said that Om Prakash Anurag, a resident of Yapral, was working as an executive at Corporate Bounteez, which supplies gift articles to corporate firms and is owned by the victim, Mr Srikanth.

Mr Srikanth and his wife, a government employee, are at work during the day. Using this opportunity, Om Prakash stole the key of his employer’s house and did not go to work from April 7.

“As he was aware that the entire residential area was under CCTV surveillance, he purchased a burqa, hand gloves and socks to conceal his identity. On Tuesday he entered the flat with the help of the stolen key and decamped with the gold jewellery and cash.” DCP Reddy said.

After committing the offence, he fled from the spot in an auto-rickshaw and changed to normal clothes at a Sulabh Complex near Bible House.
