Fire breaks out at Cystal Tower in Mumbai’s Parel
People are stranded on the staircase and rescue operations are under way
A fire broke out on the 12th floor of a high-rise residential building in Mumbai’s Parel area on Wednesday morning.
According to fire officials, a few people in the Crystal Tower, near Hindmata cinema, were stranded on the staircase filled with smoke.
Initial reports suggest eight people, who suffocated due to the smoke, were rushed to KEM hospital. All of them were stable, say BMC officials.
The Level-2 fire which broke out around 8:30 a.m. has now been declared as a Level-4 fire and rescue operations are under way.
Eight fire engines and four tankers have been pressed into action.
