6,000 cops deployed for Kapu Satyagraha in East Godavari

Kakinada: There is heavy police deployment in East Godavari as Kapu Joint Action Committee (JAC) state convener Mudragada Padmanabham will take up padayatra nam-ed ‘Kapu Satyagraha Yatra’ from Ravulapalem in Konaseema area. The yatra commence from January 25 demanding for inclusion of Kapus in the reservation list.

According to police sources, there are 5,800 police personnel from various departments deployed for preventing the untoward incidents, Armed Reserve Forces, APSP battalion personnel, Civil Police, 7 teams of Anti-Naxal Squad, Border Security Force and others were deployed to the district.

Anti-Rapid Action Force personnel have come to the district from Telangana state.

The government provided Vajra vehicles which are fitted with water, cranes, front guards and others for protection of the personnel and dispersing of the mob.

Sources said that there are possibilities that Mudragada may be kept under house arrest at his residence in Kirlampudi village, where nearly 3,000 personnel are deployed.

Mudragada said he would start from Kirlampudi on Tuesday evening and stay at Ravulapalem on the night and commence his padayatra from Ravulaplem in the morning hours of January 25.

Sources said that the police wanted to place Mudragada under house arrest on Sunday, when he came to Kakinada. But in the last minute, they withdrew their strategy, it is learnt. Meanwhile, Mudragada Padmanabham set up CC Camera system including moving cameras with underground cable network to keep an eye on the movements of the police or visitors outside his residence at Kirlampudi.

The police superintendent of police M.Ravi Prakash said that Mudragada did not apply for permission and they would not allow for padayatra. But Mudragada said that he would not obtain any permission for his agitation. The Additional Superintendent of Police Mr.AR Damodar has been deployed at Ravulpalem for supervising the law and order situation.
